Violet is the color located at the extreme of the visible color spectrum, falling at about 450nm and below. The smaller the wavelength the less visible it becomes as it slips from the visible spectrum to the ultraviolet range. Violet light stimulates the blue cones and, to a lesser extent, the red cones. This color should not be confused with magenta or purple, which are defined differently. Violet light suffers the most chromatic aberration of any color in the spectrum due to its extremity in the visible spectrum.
