Purple is a mixture of red and blue. It is bluer and deeper than magenta and is a more common color term, as purple occurs in nature far more than magenta.
Purple signifies wealth, luxury, and royalty, possibly because in times past brilliant purple dye could only be had from shellfish and required a lot of labor to extract; only royalty could afford it. Purple conveys sophistication, femininity, sensitivity and romance. Purple is somewhat rare in nature, so it can give a fake appearance to things. Being close to blue, it shares its coolness and a milder appetite supression effect. |
